Popson Park measures 133 hectares (329 acres) and is located on the shores of the Oldman River. The park provides easy access to a long rocky beach situated in a valley of coulees and surrounded by grassland prairie.
From the main parking lot of this Lethbridge, Alberta park is a single track dog walking trail following the banks of the Oldman River. The dirt trail explores open grass fields covered in groves of cottonwood trees.
Off the main access road are two side roads. One side road leads to a day use picnic area with a picnic shelter, picnic tables and a boat launch. The other side road leads to the Oldman River Observatory.
The region is home to rattlesnakes and cactus so it is best to keep dogs on trails and within off leash areas.
How to Get to the Popson Park
Travel to the community of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. From Highway #3 (Crowsnest Trail) travel south University Drive to the very end where pavement turns to gravel. On your left is a small sign and the access road leading down to the park.
