Pyramid Lake is an adventure destination located near the community of Jasper, Alberta, Canada in the Jasper National Park. The lake is a natural attraction set in an aspen and lodgepole pine forest under the slopes of Pyramid Mountain (2762 metres) and next to Patricia Lake.

There is a day use picnic area, a shelter, a sandy beach, a boat launch, a floating pier, pit toilets and many interpretive and information signs detailing the region's geography, history, wildlife, flora and fauna.

During the summer months some of the more popular activities enjoyed at Pyramid Lake, near Jasper, Alberta, Canada, include fishing, canoeing, hiking, sightseeing, wind surfing, horseback riding, boating, swimming, mountain biking, picnicking, birdwatching and fishing for trout and whitefish.

The Pyramid Bench Trail explores the shores of the lake, the upper hills and the surrounding forests. The lake portion of the route is wheelchair and baby stroller friendly part ways and includes some pretty special wooden foot bridges with great views of the lake.

The trail measures about 17.5 kilometres long and connects the community of Jasper with Pyramid Lake. From the activity centre in Jasper the trail begins with an elevation climb of about 65 metres up onto the bench. Make sure to take a break and check out the views of Jasper.

The trail then explores in and out of the forest while slowly climbing about 120 metres up to the Pyramid Lookout where there are great views of the Athabasca Valley. The trail ends on the shores of Pyramid Lake. Along the route you may want to take a side trail and visit Cabin Lake, the Cottonwood Slough and Patricia Lake.

During the winter after the snow has fallen and the temperatures have dropped the trails become cross country skiing routes and the lake is good for ice fishing.

How to Get to the Pyramid Bench Trail

Pyramid Lake is 11 kilometres from the community of Jasper, Alberta, Canada. Travel to Main Street (Connaught Drive) in the community of Jasper. Continue east on Connaught and take a left on Cedar Avenue. Cedar turns into Pyramid Avenue and then Pyramid Lake Road. You can begin hiking from the activity centre or further up the road near the riding stables. If hiking is not your thing then continue driving to the parking lot at the lake.
