Patricia Lake Is an activity, recreation and historic destination near the community of Jasper, Alberta, Canada in the Jasper National Park. The lake is a natural attraction set in an aspen forest under the slopes of Pyramid Mountain (2762 metres) next to Pyramid Lake.

The lake was named long ago after Princess Patricia of Connaught who was a governor-general's daughter. Today, Patricia Lake is a recreation lake with a day use picnic area, boat rentals, some accommodations, hiking trails and endless activities.

Patricia Lake, near Jasper, Alberta is a year round activity destination. During the summer months some of the adventures enjoyed in the area include birdwatching, canoeing, hiking, sightseeing, wind surfing, horseback riding, scuba diving and fishing.

Fishing is for trout and whitefish. Scuba divers arrive at the lake to explore the remains of a World War II "ice ship". The ship made of ice was a project of Winston Churchill's called "Project Habbakuk".

Exploring the shores of Patricia Lake is easy on the well maintained 5 kilometre loop trail. It is considered an easy going trail with some gravel road sections and intersecting other trails like the Pyramid Bench Trail and the Palisades Lookout Trail.

Highlights of the trail are the views of Patricia Lake, Cottonwood Slough and the possible wildlife sightings.

During the winter months the snow covered recreation trails in the region become cross country ski routes and the frozen lake transforms into a skating rink.

How to Get to the Patricia Lake

Patricia Lake is 5 kilometres from the community of Jasper, Alberta, Canada. Travel to Main Street (Connaught Drive) in the community of Jasper, Alberta. Continue east on Connaught and take a left on Cedar Avenue. Cedar turns into Pyramid Avenue and then Pyramid Lake Road. Continue up Pyramid Lake Road to the riding stables and the trailhead. If hiking is not your thing then continue driving to the parking lot at the lake.
