William A. Switzer Park: A 63 square kilometre recreation and campground park with 5 lakes and many trails connected by Jarvis Creek popular for canoeing, hiking, wildlife sightings, fishing, swimming, picnicking, kayaking, boating, mountain biking, water skiing and cross country skiing. Located 25 kilometres northwest of the community of Hinton, Alberta.
Beaver Boardwalk: A 1.2 kilometre easy-going boardwalk pathway located in the community of Hinton which explores a wetland marsh with an active beaver population and a ton of birding activity. Located on Collinge Road in Hinton, Alberta.
Town Trails: A network of gravel and paved community trails measuring 18 kilometres long located in the community of Hinton, Alberta popular for walking, biking, sightseeing, dog walking, rollerblading and jogging in the summer and cross country skiing in the winter months. Great trails to move around the town.
Wild Sculpture Trail & Hoodoos: A 10 kilometre hiking trail leading to sandstone hoodoos and Sundance Lake located in the Sundance Wildland Park near Emerson Lake.
Orge Canyon: A sightseeing destination featuring a deep mountain canyon and many sinkhole rock formations formed from underground streams. The sightseeing attraction is located near the hamlet of Brule.
Maxwell Lake: Located within the town limits of Hinton, Alberta - Maxwell Lake includes a 2 kilometre loop trail and is a popular adventure destination for activities like canoeing, hiking, picnicking, mountain biking and birdwatching in the summer and cross country skiing and ice skating in the winter. It is part of the Town Trail system.
Happy Creek Trail: A 1.6 kilometre recreation trail following the banks of Happy Creek in the community of Hinton, Alberta. It is part of the Town Trail system.
Thompson Lake: Located within the town limits of Hinton, Alberta - Thompson Lake includes a 1.5 kilometre trail following the south shores of the lake. The lake and trail are popular for activities like hiking, picnicking, birdwatching and mountain biking in the summer. Access to the trail is best from Robb Road. It is part of the Town Trail system.
Athabasca Trail: A 2 kilometre loop trail following the banks of the Athabasca River located in the community of Hinton, Alberta. Access is best from East River Road near the Mary Reimer Park.
Bighorn Trail: A one-way 22 kilometre recreation trail exploring the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains located just outside of Hinton, Alberta. The wilderness trail is a popular destination for hiking, mountain biking, sightseeing and horseback riding.
Willmore Wilderness Park: Explore by bike, on foot or by horse in the summer and skies in the winter when visiting this 4600 square kilometre wilderness park located at the foot of the Rockies. No roads in, no motorized vehicles permitted - just 750+ kilometres of rugged trails. There are staging areas within park for starting adventures. Located north of Hinton, Alberta.
