Calgary, Alberta, Canada  

One of the largest cities in the province of Alberta. Calgary is located on the banks of the Bow and Elbow River surrounded by rolling foothills, grassland prairie and the coulees and hoodoos of the Canadian Badlands. In the distance are the peaks of the Rocky Mountain Range.

In the beginning, Calgary, Alberta, Canada was home to buffalo and the First Nation people. And then in 1875, a fort was built by the North West Mounted Police at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow Rivers so to combat the growing whisky trade. Soon later, in 1894 Calgary, Alberta became a city.

To many Canadians it is referred to as "Cow Town" or the "Stampede City". World wide Calgary is recognized as a major commercial, industrial and transportation hub in Canada. The main industries include telecommunications, agriculture, oil and gas.

Located throughout Calgary are many recreational, historical and cultural experiences. There are over 18,000 hectares of parkland and green space in the community of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. There are recreation paths exploring the community and the banks of the Bow and Elbow Rivers. Nearby, to the west, are the outdoor playgrounds known as the Rocky Mountains and Kananaskis Country

The parks and trails of Calgary, Alberta and the surrounding regions provide plenty of opportunity for adventure and activity year round. Some of the summer activities include biking, golfing,. hiking, birdwatching, fishing, boating, sailing, wind surfing, canoeing, kayaking, roller blading, picnicking, swimming, river tubing, rock climbing and much more.

During the winter, Calgary becomes a winter wonderland destination for snow activities. Some of the winter activities enjoyed in the community and in the surrounding areas include cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, downhill skiing, snowboarding, dog sledding, bob sledding and luge.
