Alberta, Canada snowboarding attracts many people from around the world to the province during the winter season to enjoy quality time, air time and some shredding while snowboarding.
There are over 60+ regional ski hills and 6 major ski resorts in Alberta, Canada. Each varies in what they offer a snowboarder. Some of the smaller hills are ski runs only while the larger ski resorts include ski runs, half pipes and terrain parks with rails, jigs, boxes, drops, rollers and jumps.
Snowboard trails vary from easy to hard. There are double black diamond (difficult) snowboard trails exploring trees and bowls while navigating down cliffs and around moguls. And then, close to the lodge, there are green snowboard trails (easy going bunny hills) for the beginner and small children.
The length of the snowboarding season is different for every ski mountain. Allot depends on how quick the snow arrives on the mountains and how long does it stick around. In general the season usually begins in late November or December and runs until late April.
The Alberta, Canada snowboard destinations provide services which enable boarders to enjoy the alpine environment. Many of the ski hills provide the basics of snowboarding services like lessons, lifts, rentals and a warming lodge.
The larger downhill snowboard resorts are like communities with many services. The resorts enjoy services like accommodations, spas, tours, lodges, restaurants, liquor stores, grocery stores, pubs, retail stores, entertainment, coffee houses, day care, access to other activities and more.
The major ski resorts are located in the Rocky Mountain region of Alberta in the Banff National Park, Jasper National Park and near Canmore in Kananaskis Country.
Some of the more popular ski and snowboard resorts in the province include Lake Louise and Sunshine Village in the Banff National Park; the Marmot Basin ski resort in the Jasper National Park; the Mount Norquay ski resort near Canmore and the Nakiska and Castle Mountain resorts near Calgary.
Some of the other smaller ski and snowboard hills include Tawatinaw Valley in Westlock; Sunridge, Rabbit Hill, and Snow Valley in Edmonton; Silver Summit near Edson; Pass Powderkeg in Crowsnest Pass; Kinosoo Ridge near Cold Lake and Canyon ski hill near Red Deer.
